Inspired by traces, remnants and remains. This workshop draws from Atlanta’s rugged landscape, boomtown architecture, past inhabitants, and untamed history. We’ll create site-specific works and sculpture using found objects, reclaimed materials, clay and encaustic to develop place-based narratives. Students will use wire and wooden dowels as connectors to build armatures and foundations, and learn how to operate basic hand and power tools, tie knots, carve wood, weave, make adobe clay, and sew simple fabric pieces. No experience necessary.
